Did you know:

  • There is currently over $6,000,000 of outstanding medical debt in Galveston County

  • Medical debt is the number one cause of personal bankruptcy in this country

  • Medical costs create serious financial problems for 26% percent of American adults each year

and 40% of Americans have lingering medical bill problems or outstanding medical debt

  • Credit scores are negatively affected and create obstacles towards recovering financially. This

worsens the stress of those already coping with significant illnesses or disabilities, especially in

this time of Covid-19 and economic disruption.

  • Stress can have a significant negative long-term impact on the health and well-being of those

    affected.

“Galveston County Cares” is a local campaign partnering with churches, civic organizations, and
individuals to help our neighbors in distress. We are working with the 501c3 charity
    RIP Medical Debt
to raise funds to wipe out the debt in Galveston County.

Outstanding debt can be purchased at a greatly reduced rate. A donation of $10 will erase $1000 of a
    neighbor
    s debt. A donation of $100 will erase $10,000!

Working together we can make a big difference the lives of many who are struggling with illnesses
    and medical debt.
While we may not be able to solve the entire problem, we believe it “is better to
light a single candle than to curse the darkness”.

More information is available on the campaign website, https://secure.qgiv.com/event/galveston.
It is easy to donate via the website and every dollar you give will go to erase medical debt for our

neighbors in Galveston and Galveston County.
