Recognizing Galveston’s Historic Preservation Heroes
As Chairman of the City of Galveston’s Landmark Commission, Tom plays a hands on role in helping preserve the historic houses and landmarks that make the city so special.
In the third week of June the Landmark Commission recognized those who have made significant investments in historical preservation over the last year.
Tom says presenting the awards is hands down the favorite part of the job for him!
This year awards went to:
614 16th Street – Laura Dawson
2612-2616 Ave M ½ – Michael Guillot, Galveston Historical Foundation and Brax Easterwood, Brax Easterwood Design
3624 Avenue R ½ – Michael Guillot, Galveston Historical Foundation and Brax Easterwood, Brax Easterwood Design
3608 Avenue O – Ashley and Michael Cordray, Save 1900
824 22nd Street – Mike Gullette, Coastal Columns
The home at 3608 Avenue O was on the City’s demolition list and the before and after transformation is quite incredible.
Tom had further involvement in the story of these homes as he sold four of homes – 614 16th St, the two Avenue M ½ homes and 3608 Avenue O.
