Tom Schwenk the Owner and Broker of TGRE (Tom’s Galveston Real Estate) will be honored at the upcoming Texas Realtors Annual Conference and Centennial Celebration (August 31 to September 3).

Schwenk is one of a select few being honored with Texas REALTORS® Acts of Kindness Award recognizing his contribution to the Galveston community.

He was nominated by Lesley Sommer the Association Executive of the Galveston Association of REALTORS® who said that honor was well deserved. 

“Anyone who knows Tom knows that he is very generous with his time, his expertise and with his sponsorships. Over the years he has given hundreds of thousands of dollars to local groups involved with historic preservation, arts and recreation, conservation and ecology and education and families. On average he supports at least 50 local organizations each year. It is wonderful to see him receive State and National attention.”

Tom Schwenk said he felt honored by the award and is please it will help bring recognition to Galveston. “I always say those of us lucky enough to live by the sea are lucky enough. Galveston is such a wonderful place to live and I’m thrilled the many thousands of delegates who will watch the centennial celebration of Texas Realtors will get a taste of what it means to live on our wonderful island.”

 Tom is a historic homes’ expert and is well known for his passionate support of Galveston community groups and non-profits. In 2019 he received a service award for Outstanding Contribution to the Galveston Island Nature Tourism Council, 2018 he was awarded the Vic Pierson Award by the Galveston Chamber of Commerce and two years prior the Chamber named him its “Community Hero” for his outstanding contribution to the community. In 2017, he was honored at a gala at the Sea Star Base which raised $50,000 for sailing programs.A former president of the Galveston Association of Realtors, Tom was named GAR REALTOR of The Year 2015 and has served on the Texas Realtors Political Involvement Committee as its Region 10 PIC. He is past Chairman of the Landmarks Commission for the City of Galveston and is a past President of the Galveston Historical Foundation. Tom was also named “Realtor of the Decade” by Islander by Choice. He is proud to have been a Paul Harris Fellow of Galveston’s Rotary Club.
